Sasha Marianne Sökol-Cuillery, better known as Sasha Sökol, is a Mexican actress, singer and presenter, born on June 17, 1970, in Mexico City. As a child, she began her studies at the Peterson School and shortly afterward she entered the Televisa Artistic Education Center (CEA) to expand her knowledge of dance and acting. Later she auditioned in one of the castings to create the Mexican version of the band Parchis, where she was selected as one of the seven original members and began her career as a singer in 1982. During her participation in the group, she recorded seven albums and He obtained 25 gold records and ten platinum records. In 1984, with Timbiriche, Sökol participated in Vaselina as Sandy, the Spanish version of Grease. In 1986, she left Timbiriche and moved to Boston, Massachusetts, United States to continue her acting studies. That same year, Ella Sökol enrolled at the Walnut Hill School of Performing Arts. In 1987, she released her first solo album, Sasha, which sold more than a million copies in Mexico alone. She also debuted a television career with the series Tres Generaciones, starring Carmen Montejo and Angélica María. Years later, she appeared in the Mexican telenovela Alcanzar una Estrella II. After becoming one of the most popular singers in Mexico, Sökol put her career on hold and entered rehab for her cocaine addiction. In 1997 she returned to the music scene with an album titled 11:11, released by Sony México. And months later, she joined the founding members of Timbiriche for an international tour, where she recorded a double album titled The Concert. Likewise, in 2017, they reunited to celebrate the group’s 35th anniversary.
